Video: Tampa gets brighter!

This year, for one night only on Saturday, February 19, 2011, Lights On Tampa returns with a site-specific family event featuring theater, dance, music, and visual art by individual artists and ensembles of local and international acclaim. The activities, performances, installations, and media art all consider issues around intergenerational fun and engagement and have been created specifically for the Lights on Tampa 2011 celebration in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

The program brings free access to artistic excellence that is fun and family friendly, includes a multi-level education program and presents a lasting element to our cityscape-this year, The Portal, a digital gateway through the arts, is unveiled on the Tampa Riverwalk

Lights On Tampa is a public/private partnership between the City of Tampa's Art Programs Division and Friends of Tampa Public Art, a 501(c)3 organization that began in 2006 with the desire to bring something bold, of high quality and "on the moment" to Tampa. The objective was to literally put the spotlight on Tampa and its regional assets. The Program returned in 2009 when Tampa hosted the NFL's Super Bowl XLIII. In 2010, the Program was recognized as one of the 50 most significant art programs in the U.S. in the last 50 years (Americans for the Arts).
