Suncoast Hospice and Florida's Department of Financial Services Division of Consumer Services are hosting Safeguarding Our Seniors (SOS) workshop Friday, July 23 from 9 a.m.-Noon. A second workshop is being held Sept. 25 at Suncoast Hospice's St. Petersburg community service center - details to come.

Florida's Chief Financial Alex Sink launched the initiative to inform Florida's seniors of the services available to help them identify potential financial pitfalls. A recent Orlando Sentinel article stated that most seniors can expect to be targeted by some sort of financial fraud attempts.

Various agencies and organizations, including Medicare, Division of Insurance Fraud, AARP, the Internal Revenue Service, City of Largo Police Department and the Gulfcoast Legal Services will be making presentations and are available for answering questions.
