Super Sam Fuld!

Video: Super Sam Fuld Inspiring Kids with Type 1 Diabetes

Sam Fuld, Tampa Bay Rays outfielder, partnered with the Rays, the University of South Florida Diabetes Center and USF Athletics and hosted the Inaugural Sam Fuld Diabetes Sports Camp at USF.  Fuld was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was ten and has shown that having the disease doesn't have to hold you back from rising to the top.  The uniqueness of the recent camp is that each of the nine instructors, including Fuld, all have type 1 diabetes and coached children and teens (ages eight to 18) who also all have type 1 diabetes.  In addition to baseball and softball, instruction was provided in basketball, football, soccer, tennis and cheerleading.

Fuld was excited about the camp, explaining, "It will give them the chance to share stories with other diabetic kids, learn how to deal with being a diabetic athlete and gain inspiration from peers and coaches.   I'm excited to make (the camp) an annual tradition in the Tampa Bay area."

Roxanne Wilder interviews Fuld and the camp participants on Thursday's edition of Studio 10.
