Hurricane Katrina Hero to Speak in Tampa
Retired U. S. Army Lt. General Russel L. Honore will share his insights from both a business and military perspective at a dinner at Tampa’s Centre Club on April 22nd. His “Leadership and Preparedness in the 21st Century” talk is open to the public.
Honore, nicknamed the “Category 5 General” arrived in New Orleans in September 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. His take-charge style and practical approach to solving problems made him a hero in the devastated Gulf Coast region. Today, that experience makes him a valued resource for businesses across America.
Honore lectures nationally on the relief operations and lessons learned from these hurricanes. His book “Survival” is a memoir about Hurricane Katrina. It encourages leaders to work toward a culture of preparedness as a new way of thinking to help improve planning for future disasters and to better organize post-recovery management.
A dinner reservation can be made by calling The Centre Club, 813-286-4040 or email, centretampa.com. The dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and tickets are $100 each.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Red Cross and the Fisher House for Veterans.
