With all of the Halloween fun, safety is an important topic of conversation.  In automotive safety, side impact crashes are some of the most deadly on today's streets. In fact, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly 30 percent of fatalities occur as a result of non-rollover side impact crashes. And while many automakers offer airbags that come out of the door side of the vehicle, it doesn't offer much protection from the opposite side.

Now, a first-of-it's-kind Front Center Airbag deploys from the right side of the driver's seat and positions itself as a cushion between the front row seats near the center of the vehicle. This Halloween it is always a good idea to provide safety checklists before you let your little ghosts and goblins out this Halloween and beyond. 

Be cognizant of children that will be out in the neighborhood many will be wearing dark costumes on Halloween evening.  Drive with caution.  Children will not be paying as much attention as usual do to their added excitement and children may dart into the street.

Don't pass vehicles that come to a stop in front of you.  They may be dropping off children in costume.

Don't be a distracted driver. Do not place unnecessary cell phone calls and avoid text messaging while driving while in the car.

Exercise caution with your own children.  Provide them with flashlights, glow sticks and reflective tape, shoes or clothing to help other drivers see them.
