Tampa 5K Walk Helps Celebrate Life & Create Awareness

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is holding held its fourth annual Walk Like MADD 5k event on March 25, 2011 to raise awareness and funds to eliminate drunk driving and support victim/survivors of alcohol-related crashes in Tampa. Over 1200 attendees are expected to participate in this year's walk at USF to rally support for MADD's lifesaving mission and the Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving.

The Walk Like MADD course winds along USF's beautiful campus interior and will feature a Health & Safety Fair, local food vendors, and more. The Tampa Walk Like MADD is nationally presented by State Farm Insurance and locally presented by Bright House Networks & MetroPCS. The Walk is also sponsored by Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the University of South Florida Police Department.

All funds donated to the Tampa Walk Like MADD event stay in the Tampa community and will go to support educational programs that prevent underage drinking and eliminate drunk driving. There is still time to support MADD Tampa's Walk Like MADD with a team and/or sponsorship. MADD needs your help. To donate or register to walk, visit www.walklikemadd.org or contact Amber Saltzman at 813-935-2676 ext 5.

Founded by a mother who lost her daughter in a crash, Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) is the nation's largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving and underage drinking. With the help of those who want a safer future, MADD's Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving® will end this danger on America's roads. In addition, Power of Parents, It's Your Influence® offers research-proven strategies to help parents keep their children safe from the dangers of underage drinking. One of the largest victim services organizations in the U.S., MADD also supports drunk driving victims and survivors - serving one person every 10 minutes - at no charge.  To learn more about MADD, visit www.madd.org or call 1-800-GET-MADD.  For victims/survivors, call 1-877-MADD-HELP.
