Produce for Kids

Video: Treat your kids to a healthy snack with the help of Publix!

From: www.produceforkids.org:

Produce for Kids® (PFK) promotes the benefits of healthy eating and supports worthy causes for children.

PFK educates shoppers about healthy eating through promotional campaigns in the produce department of local grocery stores across the U.S. These campaigns combine advertising, in-store display materials, public relations and Internet marketing. Also included in-store and online are fun games and activities for kids and resources for parents.

Since its creation in 2002 by Shuman Produce Inc., PFK has raised more than $2.5 million for children's non-profit organizations including Children's Miracle Network® hospitals and PBS KIDS®. All funds raised directly benefit these PFK partner organizations.

The Produce for Kids program has been embraced by the produce industry and covers retailers in more than 24 states and incorporates suppliers in every major produce category.

PFK also provides elementary school teachers with educational materials and fun interactive activities designed to teach kids about healthy eating.

All Publix Markets in Tampa and across Florida are participating in the 2010 Produce for Kids (PFK) campaign.  From now through July 3, the more fresh produce a family buys from Publix, the more money PFK will donate to All Children's Hospital.

The goal of the program is to encourage families to buy more fresh produce, make fresh and healthy meals together, and at the same time give hope to children who are in need-all without impacting household budgets.

In the past seven years, Publix shoppers have helped donate more than $856,000 to All Children's Hospital, and other Florida children's hospitals. Nationally, PFK has raised more than $2.5 million for dozens Children's Miracle Network hospitals.
