New Manufacturing Plant Brings Clean Energy,
More Jobs and Increased Exports to the U.S.
World Record Gas Turbines to be Manufactured in the U.S.
 
Clean Energy; 800-1000 new jobs; millions of dollars in exports. As the Obama administration continues its plan to double exports by 2015, a newly expanded manufacturing plant in the U.S. will soon be shipping its first gas turbine overseas.
 
Siemens Energy's newly expanded plant officially opens in Charlotte, NC, on November 16th, with a celebration and tour.  This Charlotte facility will be considered the worldwide center of excellence for Siemens' new 60-Hz gas turbine, steam turbine and generator markets.  It will be exporting the first gas turbine to Mexico.  
 
Over five years, the company expects to invest a total of nearly $50 million in the new 75,000 square foot facility which will manufacture state-of-the art gas turbines. The high tech machines of the so called H-class of Siemens are the largest and most efficient in the industry currently holding the world-record for efficiency. Their design was driven by the need to reduce emissions and preserve the environment for future generations.
 
This plant expansion is critical as America looks to increase its export business. Since 2008, the existing plant has already exported more than $650 million dollars worth of products - and this expansion will increase the plant's overall exports substantially.
