Freecycle is a world wide group.  The local St Pete group has currently 8000 members.Freecycle's goal is to keep items out of the landfills. So what ever you would want to get rid of or clean out,  instead of throwing out in the trash you can make a post (offer) on freecycle . Then other members respond saying they want it and when they can pick it up.

We have had everything posted from the empty card board tube from toilet tissue to vehicles. Businesses that are closing that need to clear out everything or lose deposits or have to pay to have stuff hauled off also use this. A lot of kids items, household goods, citrus fruit, old computers even entire households of furniture from people who are moving. Moving boxes are being posted all the time. Scrap metal is a good item that is posted frequently. Even with our goal of keeping items out of the landfills we are a great source for those who are stuck in this economic crunch. Members are not supposed to resell items (except the scrap items).

There are groups in every local area in Florida. There are over 400 groups in Florida alone.

Freecycle is run strictly by volunteers, and EVERYTHING posted on Freecycle is FREE no strings attached. Each transaction is between the members once they decide who gets the item.
