Teaming Up in the Fight Against Prostate Cancer

Video:  Know Your Stats!

www.knowyourstats.org
Prostate Cancer is the most common non-skin cancer affecting men in the US, but is most treatable when caught early. Two years ago, on the morning of the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement, Mike Haynes took a free prostate cancer test, offered to retired players by the NFL Player Care Foundation. That's what led to the discovery that he had prostate cancer. Mike's cancer was detected early enough to get effective treatment, and now he is living cancer free. Knowing that one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and that African-American men are twice as likely to die from the disease, Mike and friend former Raider Ronnie Lott have decided to speak to groups across the country regarding prostate awareness and the importance of getting screened. Establishing a baseline prostate- specific antigen (PSA) score at age 40 can help doctors better interpret future scores. Know your stats- and don't let prostate cancer take you out of the game.
