Video: Florida Blood Services tells us why blood donations really do make a difference.

10 Connects-WTSP has teamed up with WQYK 99.5 FM, Florida Blood Services, and Golden Corral Restaurants to sponsor "Ten Connects All American Blood Drive" on Thursday and Friday, June 24 and 25, 2010, to help build our community's blood supply as we prepare for the long Independence Day Holiday weekend ahead.

All lifesaving donors will receive a coupon for a FREE lunch buffet from Golden Corral, a "limited edition" travel tumbler and a wellness checkup including a cholesterol screening! 

In addition, all donors who give blood 2 times before August 31st will be entered to win a Carnival Cruise courtesy of Cruise World Travel Agency*.  (*Restrictions apply.  See www.fbsblood.org for details.)

Generally, healthy people age 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can be blood donors.  Identification is required prior to donation.

Florida Blood Services provides for the blood needs of patients at 38 hospitals in Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk Counties, through the generosity of volunteer blood donors.  Over 800 donations are required daily, due to the high quality of medical care in Tampa Bay that serves the most critically ill patients throughout west central Florida.
