Skating Legend Dorothy Hamill

Every four years the Winter Olympic Games produce a new group of champions, however only rarely does one of these champions transcend his/her sport to completely capture our imaginations.

Such was the case when 19-year-old figure skater Dorothy Hamill won the Gold Medal at the 1976 Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria after her interpretation of music, fluid skating, and infectious charm led all nine judges to unanimously vote her the winner~permanently establishing Dorothy as America's skating sweetheart even today!

And now with the 2010 Winter Olympic Games quickly approaching, Dorothy~who was inducted into the Olympic Hall of Fame and Figure Skating Hall of Fame and was very proud to run the torch into the Olympic Stadium and skate at the closing ceremonies at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City~will share her Olympic predictions. Dorothy will also reveal how she keeps her body healthy and tips for you can stay healthy at any age~including fitness, skin, and nutrition (food and drink) tips.

Most proud of her World Championship title in Gothenburg, Sweden following her win at the 1976 Winter Olympic Games, Dorothy has since skated with many productions, including eight years with the Ice Capades (the company she helped bring to preeminence among touring ice shows), "Cinderella-Frozen in Time", "Hansel, Gretel, the Witch, and the Cat", "Nutcracker on Ice", and "Romeo and Juliet". With five consecutive World Professional titles, Dorothy continues to tour nationally with "Champions on "Ice" and "Broadway on Ice"; released her 2007 memoir entitled "A Skating Life: My Story" about love, family, courage, and what it means to truly win both on and off the ice; and was also a judge on "Skating with Celebrities".

In addition, Dorothy is actively involved in charity work, including the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports; the International Special Olympics; Big Brothers & Sisters of America; Buoniconti Fund; Olympic Aid; Vaccine Fund; American Cancer Society; Ronald McDonald House and the March of Dimes. Dorothy also does many motivational speaking engagements to Women's Organizations and a variety of AIDS foundations.
