Survivor: Sunken Gardens
Bill O'Grady gives Tim the nickel tour through one of St. Petersburg's oldest and most beautiful attractions!
Sunken Garden's Safari by Tim Wilkins
After a full year of weekly visits from Bill O'Grady from Sunken Gardens, I felt it was only fair that I visit him on his well manicured home turf. I wondered if I could survive the dense foliage, wild animals, and Bill's random usage of the Latin when describing his favorite plants. As we toured his oxygen-rich jewel of a landscape, it became apparent that not only could I survive this tour, I could flourish like a prize Bromeliad. From the 30 foot high Bamboo plants that would make ideal rafts, to the large array of native fruits that I could munch on. my quest to be the winner of Survivor: St. Pete was in full swing. I also found an entertaining group of tropical birds that would make ideal companions should I become marooned on 4th Street. There were large ponds full of Koi and a colorful flamingo pen that is a requirement at any Florida destination.
Alas, upon coming to the realization that I was in no danger of being stranded, I found inner peace that was compounded by the tranquil settings throughout this beautiful oasis. A relaxing trip that I highly recommend with or without a wonderful guide such as I had.
