The Armed Forces Military Museum

Video: A Walk Through History

The Armed Forces Military Museum, located in Largo, is somewhat of a hidden gem in Tampa Bay. Boasting over 35,000 square feet of amazing static military displays, this museum has it all. Every branch of the military is represented by memorabilia, vehicles and specialized military pieces. Currently the museum has completed displays reflecting WWI, an extensive display of Japanese memorabilia associated with the WWII attack on Pearl Harbor, displays of the USMC in the South Pacific, D-Day landings, German Third Reich, Korean War and 8063rd M.A.S.H memorabilia. Exhibits are enhanced with simulations of smoke, sounds of airplanes and tanks, and other audio/visual effects.  These effects will make you feel you are part of the action.

In January, the Armed Forces Military Museum opened a Vietnam display. Over 450 veterans were in attendance for this emotional event. The museum has also recently acquired the Blackthorn Bell. The bell was salvaged after the fateful sinking of the Coastguard Cutter Blackthorn in January of 1980 in Tampa Bay. The bell officially returns to its home county of Pinellas, and it is currently on display at the museum.

The Armed Forces Military Museum is offering special admission pricing for Memorial Day, only $5.00 per person. They are also featuring the largest traveling American flag (10' x 45').
