"Swamp People" is set in a hidden world, a place where nature still rules and little is known about the territory: the Louisiana swamps. History's Swamp People follows the day-to-day activities of several Cajuns living in the Atchafalaya River Basin swamp, who hunt American alligators for a living. The show explores and celebrates a unique culture far removed from the mainstream of Contemporary America.

The "Swap People" are self-sufficient, getting everything they need from the land. They battle Father Time, Mother Nature and the challenges of life in and around the murky swamp waters they call home. But the show only depicts some of Louisiana's beautiful, natural resources. From its pristine National State parks and beaches, to its rich musical history that continues to inspire and entertain, to a vibrant Creole culture, Louisiana is more alive than ever before and now is the time to experience the wonder of it all for yourself! Known as the "Hollywood of the South," the state has also become a popular location for filming TV shows and movies.
