10th Annual Back to School Bash!
Video: Back to School Helping Hands Sponsors, Donations and Supplies Needed to Help 5,000 Community Children Mrs. Tonya M. Lewis and Children With A Vision, Inc. (CWAV) supplied over 4,000 of Tampa's less fortunate children with school essentials at last year's back-to-school bash. This year CWAV is raising funds in hope to purchase supplies for 5,000 children and desperately needs the community's help. Mrs. Lewis and CWAV work hard to help families who can't afford to buy new supplies and book bags for their children. "This is for the parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles that are taking care of their children and someone else's too! In this community, these types of situations occur all the time for several reasons. They need help," says Lewis. CWAV expects even more families this year due to the economy and job losses. The supplies needed are back packs, folders, paper, coloring books, crayons, storage boxes, Elmer's glue, hand sanitizer, pins, and pencils. The items can be dropped off at N-E-Where Transport (3808 E. Martin Luther King Blvd. Tampa, Fla. 33610 - corner of MLK and 40th) Monday thru Friday from 8am-6pm. LOCAL GROUP HOSTS ITS 10TH ANNUAL BACK-TO-SCHOOL BASH/HEALTH FAIR AND AWARDS 12 SCHOLARSHIPS TO DESERVING GRADUATES
Every dollar donated goes towards supplies and scholarships. The 10th Annual Back-to-School Bash is Sunday, August 22nd from 12pm-6pm at Ragan Park Community Center (1200 East Lake Ave).
