Video: Summer Fun for Everyone!

There's reading fun for all ages at the St. Petersburg Public Library System this summer.  School age children are invited to attend our special Florida Library Youth Program (FLYP) "Make a Splash-Read!" with special story times and special events now through August 6.  Pick up an activity sheet at any St. Petersburg Public Library and complete 8 out of 12 activities to receive a free book.  FLYP is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library.  Schedules are available on the library's website at www.splibraries.org.

Children can sign up for Reading with the Rays at the same time and "read your way to the ball park." Children who complete a special score card will be eligible to earn one free ticket to a Rays game. Pick up a score card at any Pinellas or Hillsborough County public library, or at Tropicana Field.  Reading with the Rays is co-sponsored by the Rays, the St. Petersburg Times' Newspaper in Education and the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative (PPLC).

Teens can join the fun by picking up a Teen Burrito Bingo card at any Pinellas County Public Library. By completing at least seven bingo squares, teens can redeem their bingo cards at the library to receive a Burrito Buck from Chipotle Mexican Grill good for a free burrito, bowl, salad or order of tacos.  Each teen who completes the Teen Burrito Bingo card will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a Chipotle Prize Pack and a burrito party for up to 25 people.

For the first time this year, PPLC is sponsoring an adult summer reading program-Just Read @ Your Library!  As parents bring in their children to sign up for FLYP, they can participate in the adult program for great prizes as well.  Friends of the Library are providing $10 gift cards to Barnes and Noble as weekly prizes at each library.  Prize drawings will be held weekly June 21 through July 23.  PPLC, Chipotle Mexican Grill and the Rays have teamed up to provide grand prizes of a burrito party for 2 at Chipotle Mexican Grill and two tickets to selected Rays games.
