Locally, Eckerd serves more than 3,000 youth each day as the lead agency for foster care in Pinellas and Pasco counties, a mentoring program, and two residential programs. Eckerd has helped more than 100,000 youth since its founding by Jack and Ruth Eckerd in 1968.

Eckerd Youth Alternatives specializes in helping at-risk, troubled and vulnerable kids.  We're headquartered in Clearwater, and we're one of the largest not for profit organizations in the Tampa Bay area. We were founded by Jack and Ruth Eckerd 42 years ago and have helped more than 100,000 kids turn their lives around.

We offer a complete continuum of nearly 40 different behavioral health and child welfare programs nationwide that help kids succeed.  Annually, we serve more than 12,000 at-risk and vulnerable kids.

On the behavioral health side, we help at-risk kids stay out of trouble through programs like mentoring and early intervention services. For troubled kids, we have in-home and residential services that help them turn their lives around. And we also have aftercare programs for kids completing residential treatment that help them be successful once they return to their homes and schools.

In the Tampa Bay area, we also serve as the lead agency for foster care in Pinellas and Pasco counties. Daily, we serve more than 3,000 kids who are victims of child abuse and neglect.
