CUT! Costume and the Cinema.
Florida International Museum at St. Petersburg College in conjunction with Exhibits Development Group (EDG) and Cosprop, Ltd., London, England, presents the world premiere of a major exhibition, CUT! Costume and the Cinema. Forty-three period costumes from highly-respected motion pictures will depict the art of making costumes for film. The exhibition will reveal how film costumes set the scene and establish authenticity in a period film. Visitors can see up close the sumptuous fabrics, lavish detail and the unparalleled craftsmanship of costumes created for big-screen cinema.
The films represented in the exhibition depict five centuries of history, drama and comedy with period costumes worn by such famous film stars as Johnny Depp, as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl ; Natasha Richardson as Countess Sophia Belinskaya in The White Countess; Heath Ledger as Giacomo Casanova in Casanova; Angelica Huston as Baroness Rodmilla De Ghent in Ever After; and others including Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Craig, Kate Winslet, Sandra Bullock, and Uma Thurman. In all, more than 30 actors will be represented from some 25 films, including the new release, Sherlock Holmes, Academy Award winner The Duchess and favorites Sense and Sensibility and The Phantom of the Opera.
