Vintage Vanities & Retro Rags

Vintage Vanities and Retro Rags - THE Vintage Fashion Show with a Burlesque Twist to benefit Foster Children in Pasco, Hernando and Pinellas Counties, will be presented on March 8, 2010 by Dress-Up Box Productions. Dress-Up Box Productions is the brainchild of two sisters, Angela D. Hoerner and Tina Y. Richards. They have been collecting vintage clothing for over 10 years and have acquired well over 2000 pieces with the oldest circa 1860.

In 2003 they decided to put on a fashion show at the local coffee shop in Gulfport, FL. They drew their models from the ladies in the community to showcase their vintage collection. With seven models wearing seven outfits each, the first Vintage Vanities and Retro Rags was born. Over the past five years, the show has grown to more than 130 outfits and 14 models, both male and female. With fashion spanning a century from 1880 to 1980 this show proves to be entertaining for both men and women, with a tongue-in-cheek burlesque attitude. Your evening includes kick lines, comedy, history with a wink, and the exclusive HUMAN DISCO BALL. The models are a talented and attractive cast of dancers and actors who are encouraged to let their personalities shine. The music is toe tapping and nostalgic from the Andrews Sisters to Tom Jones to Taco and takes you on a musical journey through the clothing styles of yesterday.

The sisters put on one show per year, which allows them to present selections from their collection with categories like Prom Night and Going to the Chapel, not to mention Hawaiian Vacation and Underneath it All. While the fashions seen on stage are not for sale, there will be a vintage boutique open before and after the show where the majority of the sisters' collection is available for purchase.

The Show Palace Dinner Theatre in Hudson, FL has graciously donated the use of the theatre; the crew and models donate their time and talents; and Dress-Up Box Productions donates the show, allowing for every penny of the proceeds to go to the Foster Children.

This spring's show will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre in Hudson, FL. Doors open at 6:30pm with the show starting at 7:30pm. There will be a cash bar, chance drawings for wonderful prizes, and a 50/50. There is no food service. Tickets are $15.00 and are available in advance by calling (727)687-0639. Be sure to reserve group space early to get the best seats!
