Christopher's story is as magical as the fantasy books he writes. In the fall of 2003, 19-year-old Christopher Paolini flew for the first time by himself from his home in Montana to New York City. His fantasy novel Eragon, originally self-published and then discovered by bestselling author Carl Hiaasen, and had just been published. It was the first time he'd been away from his family, and he was to appear on national television. The story he told was truly one-of-a-kind: Raised in a modest home in rural Montana, Christopher was home-schooled his entire life. He'd read 3,000 books and made his own chain mail for fun. When he was 15, he decided he wanted to write a book. So he wrote one: an amazing novel called, Eragon. His parents decided to publish the book and then the entire family dedicated themselves to promoting it. They traveled the country, selling Eragon from the trunk of their car, while young Christopher performed in schools and bookstores in homemade medieval costume.
Three books, eight years and 25 millions copies later, Christopher Paolini is a worldwide literary star. His millions of fans in 50 countries across the world are eagerly awaiting the fourth and final novel in his epic fantasy series, INHERITANCE. Christopher will meet fans in 18 cities across the country this fall, while on a national tour.
About Christopher Paolini
Christopher Paolini was born in Southern California and lived most of his life in Paradise Valley, Montana with his parents and younger sister, Angela. The tall, jagged Beartooth Mountains that rise on one side of Paradise Valley inspired the fantastic scenery in Eragon, the first novel in his Inheritance cycle. Christopher was homeschooled by his parents and often wrote short stories and poems, made frequent trips to the library, and read widely. He was fifteen when he wrote the first draft of Eragon and his family self-published the book in 2001. In August 2003, Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers published Eragon and it was an instant success, reaching a worldwide audience. Christopher's second novel Eldest was published in 2005, followed by Brisingr in 2008. Inheritance, the fourth and final book in the cycle will be published on November 8, 2011.
