Pinktober

For the second consecutive year, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (SHRHC) in Tampa will help raise funds and public awareness during the month of October for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) by donating 25 percent of the proceeds from its Pinktober “Pink Sheets” guest room bookings as well as 75 percent of the retail price of limited edition collectible Pinktober Hard Rock pins, and 15 percent of collectible Hard Rock Pinktober charm key chains, t-shirts, leather vests, sleepwear, travel mugs, note dispenser and pen sets, and pink-hued guitar embossed “Sleep Like A Rock” bedding.

Guests can request to stay in the limited availability “pink rooms” at no additional cost. Rates for the month of October range from $199-399 per night. In addition to having 25 percent of their room rate donated to BCRF, the guest will also receive a complimentary commemorative Hard Rock pin. The select guestrooms will also be supplied with special collectible Pinktober bathrobes that can be purchased in the Body Rock Spa and Seminole Hard Rock Retail Store for only $99, with a portion donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation

“We are happy to contribute proceeds from stays in our Pink Sheets rooms to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and our donation will come from our hotel revenue. There is no extra cost for our guests,” said Gina Morales, SHRHC public relations manager.

The month-long charitable event is designed to engage consumers, celebrate survivors, raise awareness and drive funds toward research for the advancement of defenses and treatments for this disease. The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa is especially pleased to be involved this year with Hard Rock International’s Pinktober event in New York City at the end of September to celebrate its own breast cancer survivor, Deanna Wefel, the casino’s
Security Office administrative assistant, who’s also a contributing author of the book, Power Stories.

Resplendent in pink lighting for the occasion, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will offer through its Seminole Hard Rock Retail Store limited-edition collectible Pinktober pins ($13.99); charm key chains ($20.99); ladies pink t-shirts ($26); bedding sheet sets (queen $100, king $120); pink or black leather vests ($150); sleepwear (nightshirts $29.99, shorts $29.99, pants $39.99, robes $99); travel mugs ($24.99); note dispenser and pen sets ($24.99), all benefiting the BCRF.

Special “Pink-tini” cocktails ($7.25) will be served in the casino’s Center and Lobby bars throughout October with partial proceeds also donated. The casino’s famous WonderWall, a state-of-the-art indoor waterfall accompanied by continuous rock ‘n’ roll music videos will be dedicated to Pinktober, with its dramatic lighting changed to pink and guests temporarily allowed to toss in their change for the cause.

Employee-supported local programs, such as a walk in the Strides Against Breast Cancer are being organized to raise additional funds. So far, the SHRHC team is in the top ten of teams organized in the area to raise money for breast cancer research, said Morales.

About The Breast Cancer Research Foundation
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® was founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder as an independent, not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to funding innovative clinical and translational research. The Foundation supports scientists at top universities and academic medical centers worldwide conducting the most advanced and promising breast cancer research that will lead to prevention and a cure in our lifetime. A minimum of 85 cents of each dollar donated to the Foundation goes directly to breast cancer research and awareness programs. In October 2007, $32 million was awarded to 151 scientists across the United States and in Canada, Latin America, the Middle East, and throughout Europe. And for the seventh consecutive year, Breast Cancer Research Foundation received Charity Navigator’s highest rating, four stars, thus outperforming over 99 percent of the evaluated charities, while the American Institute of Philanthropy has awarded the Breast Cancer Research Foundation its highest possible rating of A+. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is the only breast cancer organization in the U.S. to receive these accolades. For more information, visit www.bcrfcure.org or call 1.866.FIND.A.CURE.
